PPN was created in 1998 when a graffiti incident at a Piedmont High School brought many concerned parents together. Parents saw a need to be able to address issues at school and affect the culture of the school and community.  Parents and a PMS counselor worked to develop a facilitator-training curriculum and launched PPN's first discussion groups.  Over the next few years, this group of parents built a network that became a reliable source of information and that provided support and encouragement for many parents and guardians throughout the community.  PPN leaders also share with the school administration concerns regarding the social and emotional development of our teens while avoiding distracting and potentially damaging spin, rumor and conjecture.

Piedmont Parents Network (PPN) is a volunteer organization that facilitates grade-level discussion groups for parents of Piedmont 6th - 12th graders.  Groups are led by trained parent facilitators and typically meet monthly during the school year.  PPN meetings provide parent members with a supportive and confidential setting to discuss the broad range of issues associated with raising middle and high school aged children.  Guest speakers are occasionally invited to share their insights and expertise.  Parent members share helpful articles, books, community resources, and personal experiences.  PPN also provides a forum to share appropriate feedback with school administrators.
